I am thrilled to announce that I have completed the clinical requirements for my Doctor of Nursing Practice, Family Nurse Practitioner degree. This achievement would not have been possible without the exceptional guidance and mentorship of two incredible professionals: BOS Medical Director, Dr. Alexis Perera, and Michael Concepcion. Alexis Perera MD Michael ConceptionDr. Perera and Michael have not only been my preceptors but also my mentors, teaching me with patience and passion. Their approach to education—teaching from the heart and with immense passion—has not only enhanced my skills but also inspired my own teaching methods as an educator. They exemplify the true spirit of paying it forward, a principle that enriches our profession and extends its impact far beyond immediate interactions. As I close this chapter, I am deeply grateful for their support and dedication. Thank you, Dr. Perera and Michael, for your invaluable contribution to my growth and for inspiring me to always strive for excellence. My nursing certification is up for renewal in August.I’m about 1/2 way done with my continuing education hours, so I will be putting in some time this month to finish those off.Michigan Nurses are required to earn 25 hours of continued education credits every 2 year period.*At least 2 of those have to be in pain and pain symptom management.*A one time human trafficking module is required. Sadly, that occurrence is something that is prevalent in some parts of the U.S.*In 2022, Implicit Bias Training also became a requirement to renew and maintain licensure. Some people wonder why I keep up my license since I haven’t practiced in a healthcare setting in a while. There is a simple answer:I earned it.The longer version is that becoming a Registered Nurse marked a lot of growth and change for me: ➡️ Learning how to provide care to others at their most vulnerable moments was truly a great privilege (and something that I will never take for granted).➡️ It was an area totally outside of my comfort zone.➡️ It led to cultivating skills that I never knew existed inside of me.➡️ Getting my nursing degree (and sitting for my license) gave me focus and stability in a time of my life that was full of upheaval. It’s a chapter of my story.A story that I continue to write and shape. If you have something of value, you should never let it go.#studying#possibilities #writeyourstory
