UT Dallas' academic year is based on three semesters: fall, spring and summer.

For every 100 applicants, 85 are admitted. This means the school is lightly selective.

Depending on your desired graduate program, UT Dallas graduates with the appropriate undergraduate major and a 3.2 GPA in their major may be eligible for automatic admission through the Quick Admit – Auto Admit path.

Your journey begins with Freshman Orientation, a two-day introduction to campus, culminating with class registration.

As always, students may drop classes without penalty prior to the 12th class day (Census Day) in any semester. Non-academic withdrawals are exempt from counting toward the 6-Withdrawals rule. Non-academic withdrawals include withdrawals due to severe illness, death, military duty, work schedule conflict, or good cause.

Families are an important part of the transition to college life, and parents and guests are encouraged to attend. Students can add a maximum of two guests to their reservation.

Where do you stay during UT orientation? ›

If you are attending Freshman Orientation (May/June/July sessions only), you are required to stay in the residence hall for the duration of your session. We do not accept roommate requests. The charge for May/June/July orientation sessions covers the cost of housing.
